When the Heck

Helping you put your life into chronological context

I was never much of a fan of history growing up, because the way it is often taught in schools is so sanitized and utterly without personal context. Over the years, as I became more interested in learning about my family's historical roots, I also became intrigued by learning how their lives paralleled world events. It makes one think about how they contemporaneously perceived what we now regard as "history".

The idea behind "When the Heck" is to make it easier to hone in on a timeframe and location to uncover events that were relevant to our ancestors while they were alive. My hope is to better understand correlations between events. One could pick and choose perhaps which type of events in history they would like to focus on and explore the possibilities of causal events and circumstances.

In other words, to make history relevant to our own experiences and existence.
